This semester has been stressful for me at the college. I am taking Social Media Marketing and love the class, however, I don't have the time to work in the subject as much as I like because it seems that I am always working on Statistics. I stuggle very much in this subject and I wake at night worrying if I am going to be able to graduate this summer if I don't get at least a C in the class. I have found myself getting very anxious and nervous in the morning when I am going into college. The way I handle this is to take my camera and walk out to the beach at SMCC and take photos of the sunrise.
While I am taking photos and listening to the morning sounds of the sea gulls, the waves splashing against the rocks, the lobster boats going out, the air planes bringing visitors and mail to Portland, I feel myself calming and relaxing. I can feel my heart beating at a normal rate and not racing. I look out over Casco Bay and see the big huge ball of light coming up and saying to me, "Good morning Colleen, I am here for your to capture my beauty and to show others what you see through your lens. Make sure you get my best side. You are awesome and you will have a good day." I begin my walk back to my car and make my way to the Incubator office to upload the photos and to drink my coffee as I reflect on the few minutes I had with nature and God. I love this state and all its beauty. If you have not been to Maine you need to get here as fast as you can. Have an awesome day and I will catch you again when the sun is making it's way to wake us.
Colleen
